Spain delivered a courageous performance in the Walking Football World Nations Cup held in Torrevieja last week where, despite experiencing mixed results, the Spain men’s Over 50s team claimed a well-earned bronze medal after a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Scotland in the third-place playoff. The Spanish women’s Over 40s team, meanwhile, formed only a few weeks ago, also put in a highly respectable showing finishing fourth overall, narrowly missing out on a medal after a 2–0 defeat to the Czech Republic in their bronze final. Week Two gets underway in the Torrevieja Sports City on Tuesday. Two German fugitives on the run for robbery and fraud were arrested by armed officers in the quiet town of San Fulgencio last week, along with a third man who tried to help them escape. They are currently awaiting extradition to their homeland where, if convicted, they each face 10 years in jail.
