The MSC Splendida managed to rescue 19 migrants who were in a dinghy in waters near Cabrera off Mallorca in the Balearic Islands. One horrified passenger posted a shocking video on the social network MSC Friends. Alongside the video was a message in English: 'During the last day of our cruise, a boat with 18 souls on board and three children were rescued in the middle of the Med sea. 'These people, probably in the sea for days, were looking for a future escaping their hostile country. 'Luckily, we were there. Not many were so lucky. Thanks to the professionals of MSC Splendida, they are now safe.' The boat had 19 illegal immigrants on board, all of Maghreb origin. It was intercepted in waters near the sub-archipelago of Cabrera by the cruise ship of the MCS company 'Splendida', as reported by the Government Delegation in the Balearic Islands on Sunday afternoon. The cruise ship rescued all of the migrants and decided to take them to their port of destination, Barcelona, to speed up operations and not stop the route of the tourist ship. The Splendida was on the last day of is cruise when they spotted the migrants. The migrants threw themselves into the sea to reach life jackets and had to fight massive waves to climb the ladder of the cruise ship to safety. Others still in the water struggled not to drown. The dramatic video shows how they were knocked back repeatedly as they tried to climb the ship's ladder but fell back into the choppy sea. Guests and staff on board the Splendida threw life rings into the ocean. The migrants were brought to safety and transferred to the port of Barcelona, where they will be at the disposal of the relevant authorities and social services. The rescue took place 111 kilometers south-west of the western island of Zakynthos on the night of October 22.
