HIGH NOTES – When cellist Jonathan Golove and pianist Eric Heubner perform a faculty concert titled “Out from the Pandemic” at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Lippes Concert Hall on the University at Buffalo North Campus in Amherst, they mean that other pandemic. All selections, including the one by Kurt Weill, are from 1920. No ticket required.

LOCKED IN – The 200th anniversary of the Erie Canal adds extra zing to the 12th annual Locktoberfest from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday on Canal Street in Lockport. There will be live music, a family fun zone, an expanded Lockport Community Farmers Market, a beer garden and the season’s final demonstration of the historic Erie Canal Flight of Five locks.
