Hungry for something special at The Big E?
The Big Eats awards, sponsored by Cutco Cutlery, has crowned a pair of culinary champions in two categories: Best Sweet Treat and Best Savory Snack, according to a statement.
For Best Sweet Treat, the Spicy PB&J Vegan Ice Cream Sundae from Soulfully Vegan out of Berlin, Connecticut took the top spot, according to The Big E. Guests looking to give it a try can swing by The Front Porch.
“This experience is awesome for us,” said Calvin Vaughn, co-owner of Soulfully Vegan with Allison Vaughn. “We always try to be creative and come up with something new and fun. Everybody loves ice cream, but not everyone can have it. Our vegan sundae gives everyone the chance and the sweet and salty works so well.”
The Deep-Fried Enchilada from Deep Fried Taco took first place in the Best Savory Snack category, according to The Big E, “which can be found just outside the Mallary Complex.”

“We are so grateful to have the opportunity to participate in this year’s Big Eats competition,” said James. “The Deep-Fried Enchilada went through several taste testings to be perfected into what it is today. We thank our awesome staff who made this possible, and The Big E for continuously supporting our business.”
“Both winners received sleek ‘E’ shaped trophies, designed by Eastern States Exposition’s own Mike Pietruska,” according to The Big E. “The sculpture doubles as a functional knife rack that houses a Cutco knife.”
“Returning to the judging panel were West Springfield Mayor Will Reichelt, Madeline LeBlanc of @HelloFoodReviews and Daymon ‘Daym Drops’ Patterson, best known for his Netflix show, Fresh, Fried, and Crispy,” according to The Big E. “Joining the lineup for the first time was Christina Allingham of @BiteofNewEngland, bringing a fresh perspective to the competition.”
