One of the best parts of this time of year is getting out and seeing the colours of the season and thankfully, there are an abundance of parks and estates in and around Glasgow where you can travel to. If you're looking to reconnect with nature, there's a destination that not only features a grand country house and woodland walks but also beautiful riverside paths, an adventure playground for the kids and even a farmer's market. Chatelherault Country Park is found just 20 minutes from the city centre and is absolutely crammed full with fun things to do. One of Scotland’s oldest and most impeccably designed estates, it caters brilliantly for visitors - especially families, and those with energetic dogs as there is s much to see and do. From the striking country house with a cosy in-house coffee shop for grabbing a bite to eat while outside offers stunning views, to wandering around the immaculate greens, the estate can flip from manicured lawns and paths to woodland wonder in the walks alongside the River Avon where the colours of the season really come into play. Head to the striking Duke's bridge that spans the gorge below, offering wonderful views that were, until recently, obscured for decades, and where you can take in the golds, reds, oranges and yellows below. There is even an adventure park for those kids still with enough energy and who want to play with new friends. And if you're lucky enough to come on a Sunday, you'll also get to peruse the epic Chatelherault Farmer's Market, which usually runs from 9.30 am until 4 pm. Featuring 70 stalls packed with award-winning Scottish food and drink, as well as crafts, fashion and home and garden wares, you'll even get to enjoy some delicious scran.
