Time was called at this pub more than seven years ago but bottles and glasses remain at the bar and a fruit machine stands in the corner. The Talacre Arms dates back to the 19th century and has been a prominent site on the highway between the centre of Holywell and the Coast Road at Greenfield. But it was closed in 2018 and has remained shut since then - left "frozen in time" according to ukurbanexplore. In the bar area chairs are stacked on the pub tables while a giant toy dog mans the pumps. A dart board stands in the corner. While it looks relatively untouched since the day it closed the sands of time have caught up with the building. In the bar room parts of the ceiling have come down. Other rooms are piled with items. One person online described it as resembling 'Sleeping Beauty's castle'. It doesn't require a prince to save the day but a new buyer is being sought. Planning permission has been secured to turn the building into four two bedroom self-contained apartments and for the erection of five new three bedroom dwellings and associated infrastructure, including a detached bat mitigation building. This followed two failed planning attempts to demolish the site and build housing which were rejected due to the site's prominence and history as an iconic landmark. The site will now go for auction - with a guide price of £150,000. Agent Newsome Homes said: "This indeed presents a rare opportunity, this premises has been owned for some time by the family and presents a perfect opportunity to really put a stamp on a local renowned property." The online auction at Auction House opens on November 24 and bids close the next day.
