Fashion month kicks off with New York Fashion Week, and it's never long before beauty trends emerge that are straight off the catwalks. We are in week three of the bi-annual run of designer shows that give us an indication of what we will be wearing when the next season rolls around. The shows also reveal some interesting beauty trends, some micro, like glittery shadow, and others major, like glass skin or slicked-back buns. What has emerged from this season's New York Fashion Week is a surge in sales of a specific lip look, and three particular products are selling rapidly as a result. New York Fashion Week You could be forgiven for thinking that no makeup is worn during New York Fashion Week catwalk shows, or indeed, in London, Milan, and Paris that follow. However, in fact, the makeup looks are carefully put together, and even the tiniest detail, such as a flicked-out eyeliner or a blurred lip colour, can set a trend for months to come. And that's what's happened in the last few weeks, and three beauty buys are the pieces everyone is after. The lip trend seen during New York Fashion Week caused a spike in searches for Sheer Lipstick (up 104% on last year) and for Sheer lip gloss (up 324% on last year), according to market researchers, Trendalytics. And the beauty buys being snapped up because of the beauty trend might seem very familiar. One dates back to the '90s, and the other two have been going viral for at least 12 to 18 months. Viral Lip Products The three lip buys that are in high demand are MAC's Lipglass, €25.95 (up by 86% on last year), Dior's Addict Lip Glow, €47, which is up 48% on the previous 12 months, and Summer Friday's Lip Butter Balm, €25.90, a rise of 124%.
