Pittsburgh Steelers fans are expected to take over SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Sunday. The home of the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers, the Steelers took it over when they went to the stadium in 2023 to play the Rams. Former NFL linebacker Clay Matthews says he expects Steelers fans to take over the stadium and essentially turn it into a home game, which has happened more often than not when the team travels to the West Coast. “I played in The Colosseum when I was with the Rams, and SoFi is just an extension of that,” Matthews said on the Bussin’ with the Boys podcast. “These Pittsburgh fans are gonna travel. It’s gonna be like a home game for them. Aaron Rodgers going back to California… I like the Steelers with this one.” The Chargers have seen this takeover happen to them a few times. It happened in 2021 and 2019 when the Steelers did the same thing to them. More often than not, Terrible Towels adorn the stands. Former NFL head coach Jon Gruden coached the Raiders, and saw the same thing happen to his team. “There’s gonna be more Steeler fans than you’ve ever seen in California. It’ll be like a road game for Herbert and Harbaugh,” Gruden said. “I love Aaron Rodgers. He’s playing consistent and I think they got a huge win and some confidence last week pulverizing the Colts. I’m with the Steelers, man.” The Steelers have a large following in California and that always shows when Pittsburgh travels to the West Coast over the years.
