Terrace RCMP are warning businesses and the public to be on the lookout for counterfeit cash circulating in the community. On Oct. 29, police received a report about counterfeit money that had been used at local businesses, the RCMP said in a press release. One business had taken the fraudulent bills from a man and later realized they were fake. On the same day, a second business reported a man attempting to use counterfeit money, but they did not accept it from him. RCMP seized the counterfeit money from one business and said all the bills have the same serial number on them and are marked “Prop Money.” Police identified the man and arrested him for possession of counterfeit money, and released him with a court date and conditions. An investigation is ongoing, but police intend to submit the results to the BC Prosecution Service for consideration of charge approval. The RCMP wants to remind the public, especially business owners, to be aware of this incident, know the signs of counterfeit money, and report any incidents to police.
