A leadership change is coming to Alan Wake 2 developer Remedy Entertainment as CEO Tero Virtala is stepping down from his position, effective immediately. Markus Mäki will serve as interim CEO while the Board of Directors searches for a permanent replacement. Remedy Entertainment announced Tero Virtala’s departure in a press release today. Virtala has been the CEO of Remedy Entertainment since 2016, and oversaw the release of games like Control and Alan Wake 2. “I want to thank Tero Virtala for his substantial contribution to the management of Remedy since 2016. I personally thank Tero for good cooperation and wish him all the best for the future,” says Remedy’s interim CEO Markus Mäki. No reason was given for Virtala’s exit, but it comes at an interesting time. In August, Remedy Entertainment confirmed that FBC: Firebreak, the multiplayer Control spin-off, commercially underperformed. Remedy is committed to seeing the game through, with the Breakpoint update adding new content earlier this month. As for what’s next, Remedy Entertainment is currently working on a sequel to Control and remakes of the first two Max Payne games. When the company finds its next CEO, you can expect to read about it here on Shacknews.
