Telugu Titans beat U Mumba 45-37 in Vizag, complete third win on trot

Visakhapatnam: The Telugu Titans put on a commanding performance to secure a 45-37 victory over U Mumba at the Vishwanadh Sports Club on Wednesday night, concluding the Vizag leg of the Pro Kabaddi League on a high note. With this win, the home side notched their third consecutive victory, keeping their playoff hopes alive.

Titans dominate from the start

Bharat Hooda led the charge for the Titans with an impressive 13 points, supported by Chetan Sahu (6 points) and skipper Vijay Malik (5 points). The home team made a strong start, with Bharat opening with a multi-point raid followed by Chetan’s crucial tackle on Anil during a Do-or-Die raid. Another multi-point effort from Bharat resulted in an ALL OUT on U Mumba in the 6th minute, giving the Titans early momentum.

Vijay Malik immediately added to the scoreboard with a successful raid on Rinku. By the end of the first phase, the Titans had built a solid 14-5 lead, capitalising on U Mumba’s struggle to find rhythm.

Second phase sees Titans stretch lead

The Titans continued their dominance in the second phase, inflicting another ALL OUT on U Mumba by the 14th minute, stretching the scoreline to 18-7. For U Mumba, only Satish Kannan provided any notable resistance in the absence of their main raider, Ajit Chouhan.

Bharat Hooda’s brilliance continued as he produced a Super Raid, completing a Super 10 and leaving U Mumba trailing 27-11 at halftime. His performance effectively set the tone for the rest of the game.

U Mumba fightback attempts fall short

U Mumba began the second half with a Super Tackle led by Sunil Kumar, bringing down Bharat and creating hope for a comeback. However, unforced errors and missed opportunities allowed the Titans to inflict a third ALL OUT, with Vijay Malik earning a touch point on Satish. Substitutes like Amirmohammad Zafardanesh and Sandeep tried to change the momentum, but Telugu Titans’ defence held firm.

At the end of the third quarter, the scoreboard read 39-21, leaving U Mumba with a steep mountain to climb in the final phase. Despite Zafardanesh scoring a double raid to force an ALL OUT for the Titans, U Mumba could only reduce the gap to eight points, finishing the match 45-37 in favour of the home side.

The win showcased the Telugu Titans’ balance of raiding and defence, with Bharat Hooda’s Super 10 and strong performances from Chetan Sahu and Vijay Malik proving decisive. The Titans concluded the Vizag leg on a high, keeping their momentum intact for upcoming matches in the season.
