Telangana Pickleball Association concludes inaugural State Ranking Tournament

Hyderabad: The Telangana Pickleball Association (TPA), functioning under the aegis of the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA), the officially recognised governing body by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, successfully concluded its inaugural State Ranking Pickleball Tournament at PicklePro Academy, Alwal. The landmark event witnessed over 150 competitive matches played across a full spectrum of age and performance-based categories. For the first time in Telangana, a pickleball event featured comprehensive divisions, including Under-12, Under-14, Under-16, Under-18 boys and girls, Open events for men and women, and veterans in different age groups. "The day-long championship showcased spirited performances from players across generations, reinforcing pickleball’s rapid growth and inclusivity in the state," said David Cupper and J Vishnuvardhan, secretary of the Telangana Pickleball Association. "This tournament also served as the official selection trials for the upcoming IPA Pickleball Nationals, scheduled to be held in Bengaluru from November 13–16," he added. Following the event, Telangana is set to field a strong 56-member contingent to represent the state across various competitive categories. “As TPA is newly formed, it is a proud moment for me to organise this flagship event. Our immediate goal is to field a strong contingent to represent Telangana at the IPA Nationals, and I am confident that we will have multiple podium finishes,” Vishnuvardhan said. Himanshu, founder of PicklOut and tournament partner, said, “We are proud to be associated with TPA and support them with the necessary expertise to ensure the best players represent Telangana at the nationals.” The TPA will soon announce the official Telangana State Team roster, followed by a Team Jersey Unveiling Ceremony ahead of their departure to Bengaluru.
