Teji Kahlon, an Indian businessman and Punjabi singer, was shot in Canada, with members of gangster Rohit Godara’s gang taking responsibility for the attack. In the attack, Kahlon sustained bullet injuries in the stomach. In a social media post, gang members claimed Kahlon was targeted for supplying arms and money to rival gangs and acting as their informant. In a Facebook post, men named Mahender Saran Dilana, Rahul Rinau, and Vicky Phalwan claimed responsibility for the attack on Kahlon. "We carried out the shooting in Canada at Teji Kahlon. He was shot in the stomach. If he understands, fine. If not, next time we will finish him," the statement read. In December 2024, Teji Kahlon was charged with assault. Earlier this month, shots were fired at comedian Kapil Sharma's restaurant in Canada's Surrey. This was the third time that Kap's Cafe was targeted since its opening in July in Canada's Surrey. In a statement, the SPS said that officers were called to the 8400 block of 120 Street in the city’s Newton neighbourhood around 3:45 a.m. on Thursday to find the business had been damaged by “numerous bullets.” The staff were inside the Kap's Cafe at the time of the shooting, but fortunately, no one was injured, it added. A social media post purportedly by Goldy Dhillon had claimed responsibility for the firing. Goldy Dhillon is an associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. In the social media post, a person named Kulvir Sidhu claimed that he and Goldy Dhillon take responsibility for the third firing at Kap’s Cafe, but said it has nothing to do with common people. They are targeting those involved in illegal activities (2 Number Ka Kaam) and those who don’t pay people after their work is done. Kulvir Sidhu further warned and threatened Bollywood for speaking against religions, saying they should be prepared as shots could be fired at any time. Bishnoi and all his gang members have recently been designated as a foreign terrorist organisation by the Canadian government. India had raised the matter of the Bishnoi gang at the NSA level with the Canadian Foreign Minister during her recent visit to India.
