The latest skincare product targeting Gen Z promises 8,347 micro-stings per second and comes with a matching ‘Stinger Gun’. Sounds crazy? That’s the point.
As TikTok skincare trends continue to become more convoluted, wild and weird with everything from snail mucin to ‘morning sheds’ showing up in teens’ routines, new skincare brand [coat]s is fighting back – by launching a completely fake product.
The Jellyfish Sting Serum is a parody product delivered with a gun-style gadget to ‘sting your way to better skin.’
The made-up formula is the centrepiece of [coat]s’ new campaign, created to highlight the overwhelming and damaging beauty trends currently facing young people.
Because, let’s be honest, things have gone too far.

In fact, a recent survey revealed that more than two-thirds of Gen Z are already using anti-ageing products, while 69% say they feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of options on the beauty shelves.
And with 49% of young skincare users discovering new products via TikTok, it’s not hard to see how misinformation spreads quickly, especially when content creators are showcasing multi-step routines, high-strength actives, and anti-ageing messages aimed at viewers as young as 12.
Dermatologists are now concerned and warning youngsters that overusing or misusing strong skincare actives like retinols and exfoliating acids can have adverse effects, leading to things like irritation, spots and a disrupted skin barrier.
The brand’s mission? To strip back the noise, simplify routines and protect teen skin with gentle, clinically backed formulas.
It doesn’t get better than this! (Picture: Metro/[coat]s)
To help spread the word, the brand is also partnering with a range of popular TikTok creators including Franchesca Gillespie, Kim Mann, Amy Astridd, Amy Cheah and Lily Bayliss, as well as skinfluencer Natalie O’Neill and consultant dermatologist Dr Emma Amoafo-Mensah.
‘Teen skin isn’t just adult skin in miniature – it has its own needs, challenges and sensitivities,’ explains Dr Emma Amoafo-Mensah. ‘It doesn’t need 10 steps or anti-ageing ingredients. It needs smart, simple care that protects what’s healthy and prevents what’s next.’
So, instead of lengthy 10-step routines that are damaging skin barriers and causing problems, [coat]s is offering a simple alternative: a three-step skincare routine designed to give young skin everything it needs, developed in partnership with the Skin Health Alliance and approved by dermatologists.
[coat]s Skinsentials 3-Step Routine[coat]s Skinsentials 3-Step Routine contains everything a young person needs to look after their skin: a Gentle Hydrating Cleanser, Gentle Hydrating Toning Milk and Triple Moisture Water Cream. All three products are fragrance-free and formulated with gentle, appropriate actives that protect the skin barrier, prevent breakouts and hydrate the skin. Suitable for combination to dry skin, there’s also a Blemish Defence option for oily, blemish-prone skin. Buy Now for £45
The Skinsentials 3-Step Routine is available to shoppers in two formulas, one suitable for combination to dry skin, and the other suited and oily, blemish-prone skin.
Consisting of a cleanser, toner and moisturiser, each routine targets the common skin concerns facing teens but doesn’t over-do the actives or ingredients.
There’s no hype, just effective products that deliver results.
So, whether you’re concerned for your teen’s skin or looking to simplify your own routine, [coat]s proves that less is most certainly more and there’s no need to ‘sting your way to better skin.’
