Manchester United legend Teddy Sheringham has admitted that Arsenal look to have made the better choice having signed Viktor Gyokeres ahead of Benjamin Sesko. In the summer transfer window , both clubs were on the hunt for new centre-forwards. Both Gyokeres and Sesko were heavily linked with United and Arsenal with the Reds bagging the latter after the Swede chose to join the Gunners. Gyokeres has scored six goals in 14 appearances for Arsenal while Sesko has managed just two goals, albeit his game time has been less. Speaking to Oddspedia for an MEN Sport exclusive, Sheringham believes that Mikel Arteta's team could have come out on top in the transfer saga. Sheringham explained: "Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres were both up for transfers coming into the Premier League , and there was a question of 'who is going to end up with which striker?' I would say in this moment in time, Arsenal look like they've got the better centre-forward. "I'm not saying that it's going to be the end result, but I definitely think that Gyokeres has settled into Arsenal's way of playing easier than Sesko at United so far." While Sheringham is concerned about Sesko's start at the club, this is not a sentiment shared by United's director of football Jason Wilcox . Discussing the new signings on the Inside Carrington podcast , Wilcox hailed the Slovenian as somewhat of an unsung hero for United. "The signings that we have made have contributed to making us better in the [attacking] area," he explained. "Benji [Sesko] at the top end is going to be an amazing player. It is difficult to be the No.9 at Manchester United and I know sometimes Matheus [Cunha] and Bryan [Mbeumo] are getting a lot of credit, but the runs that Benji is making is also helping Matheus and Bryan as well. "All of the four signings are doing really well." United return to action on Saturday when they travel to Tottenham Hotspur for the Premier League's early kick-off.
