In a viral Reddit post, a cat owner revealed their feline’s unusual best friend, and internet users can’t cope with it. The heartwarming post shared on Saturday under the username u/ClickClickKamran, shows the tabby cat lying on the floor, admiring the view from the window. Next to him is his best friend, his dragon sibling. "My brother’s dragon and cat have become unlikely best friends," the poster writes in the caption, as a second picture shows the two pets birdwatching together. While they may be an unusual pairing, cats and bearded dragons can peacefully live together with proper supervision and boundaries. A Catster article, medically reviewed by Dr. Lorna Whittemore, says that these two pets should never be left alone together, especially if one of them is young, and that their interactions should always be supervised. It is also important to keep the pets in separate rooms or enclosures when unsupervised, making sure both animals should have their own private space to isolate as and when needed. Because felines are natural predators, they often see small reptiles as prey, and while a bearded dragon is larger and tougher than a typical lizard, they can still be injured by a curious or aggressive cat. Catster adds that, even if the cat doesn’t try to eat the dragon, the predator's presence can cause chronic stress in the reptile, leading to health issues. The video quickly went viral on social media and it has so far received over 50,000 upvotes and 378 comments on the platform. One user, Dixiedenny2, commented: "You can bet, each of them is trying to decide if the other would taste like chicken." Junepath added: "My orange cat and orange dragon are also besties. As soon I get near the lizard tank the orange cat is rolling all over the place excited to get to say hi. "The lizard seeks out the cat when she’s wandering the house and they cuddle up and sleep together. Not all cats are as gentle though, we definitely wouldn’t let our male cat hang with any of the lizards we’ve had over the years." Newsweek reached out to u/ClickClickKamran for comment via Reddit.
