Team India star Richa Ghosh was appointed as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in West Bengal following her heroics at the Women's World Cup 2025. She played a key role in India's triumph. The Women in Blue beat South Africa by 52 runs in the final to lift their maiden ICC trophy. Richa was felicitated by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). During the ceremony, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee handed her the appointment letter. The event was held on Saturday, November 8, at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Moreover, she was also honoured with a golden bat and ball, with a cash prize of ₹34 Lakh. It was not all, as Richa was also given a gold chain. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee lauded the entire team for their remarkable achievement. She also praised the girls of Bengal for having excelled in various sports, but urged that Richa must not be pressured more going forward. “Richa has just begun her journey. I want our girls to always be on top. Our Bengal girls have done well in football, swimming, and archery. I believe our archers will bring home an Olympic medal. I expect great things from Richa Ghosh, but we will not put any pressure on her,” she was quoted as saying by India Today. The Women in Blue had previously played two ODI World Cup finals in 2005 and 2017. However, they had failed to cross the finish line both times. She scored 235 runs from eight innings overall at an average of 39.16 and a strike-rate of 133.52 with a half-century. Her top performance came against South Africa in the group stage. Albeit in a losing cause, she slammed a 77-ball 94. Her blistering knock included 11 fours and four maximums at a strike-rate of 122.07.
