A teacher who went on sick leave for 16 years was paid her full £48,000 salary the whole time – without her employers ever noticing. The woman, a German who taught biology and geography, managed to get away with almost two decades of not working while getting her full salary . She went on leave in August 2009 for chronic illness and psychological problems for three months, after which she was supposed to be evaluated by a doctor. But this never happened and she continued to take sick leave – lasting a whopping 16 years unchecked. When the state finally found out, it ordered the woman to undergo a medical, but she refused and has decided to sue her management for daring to ask her to prove her health status. The bizarre case happened in Wesel, Germany, and only came to light when an internal audit took place at the secondary school in 2024. The school head who took over the big boss role in 2015, had never met the teacher in question and was completely unaware that she was, in theory, part of his teaching team. She appealed against the decision to make her undergo a health check, but failed, and now will have to see a doctor. Dorothee Feller, the education minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, said: “I have a lot of questions because I’ve never been confronted with a case like this before.” She added that all these years later it will be difficult to demand that the professor repay the sums she received as it will be hard to prove that she lied about her health. A racy teacher influencer has divided opinion after gaining notoriety for strutting down school hallways in revealing clothing. Known online as Teacher Bae, Ms. Williams has garnered a huge online following – over 70k followers on Instagram – for her videos, which display the educator modelling various outfits . In one clip, the teacher poses in a partially sheer , white maxi skirt and a black top, accessorized with an oversized bow, black heels and a Chanel purse. Another video shows her behind “jiggling” as she writes a sentence about the “concept of the self” on a white board. Some people have accused Ms. Williams of forging a brand out of the “fetishization of teachers”. The teacher herself says she is “bringing class to class”. Other comments say she has dressed in an “inappropriate,” or “outlandish” manner, and had placed the camera “just so people can see her butt jiggle.” “Schools need to start enforcing teacher dress codes. You look great but wrong time and place,” wrote another.
