TCS confirms joining of 650 employees, relief amid new bench policy

According to media reports, some candidates have already received joining dates in October. However, their joining will be considered incomplete until their background verification is completely cleared.

Tata Consultancy Services: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the country’s largest IT company, has confirmed the joining of 650 candidates. These are the same candidates whose joining had been delayed for almost three months. The company has asked these candidates to participate in the pre-joining process. According to media reports, some candidates have even received joining dates in October. However, joining will be considered incomplete until their background verification is completely cleared.

A TCS spokesperson said, “We will honor all those to whom we have made offers. Whether they are freshers or experienced professionals, we are waiting for them to join the team.”

New Bench Policy Raises Concern

Late joining times have raised concerns among both candidates and the industry. TCS recently implemented a new bench policy. Under this policy, employees are allowed to spend a maximum of 35 days annually without project allocation, while each employee is expected to complete 225 build business days. These changes were implemented under the supervision of the Ministry of Labor and Employment and the Karnataka Labor Department.

The company’s total headcount is projected to reach 613,069 by June 2025. With the new employees joining, TCS has taken a significant step towards expanding its workforce and meeting project demand.

5-Month Delay

TCS began implementing annual salary increases for most of its employees this month. These increases are for the financial year ending March 2025. Generally, employee salaries have been increased by 4.5% to 7%. Generally, TCS announces salary increment in April, but this time the process started with a delay of 5 months.
