Mid-Michigan features a slew of events this weekend, with everything from musical get-togethers to lunar science exhibits.
From a Taylor Swift album release party to a classic car show in Auburn, there’s bound to be something for everyone to enjoy this weekend.
Below is a list of five events that may pique one’s interest.
Taylor Swift “The Life of a Showgirl” album release party in Midland
Swifties will have a reason to celebrate this fall as a local bakery marks the release of Taylor Swift’s new album “The Life of a Showgirl” with a daylong party on Friday, Oct. 3.
From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., the shop will transform into a Taylor-themed wonderland, featuring display cases filled with cakes, cupcakes, cookies, donuts, and cake truffles inspired by the pop superstar. Special themed cold brew coffee will be on tap, while Swift’s music plays throughout the day.
Guests can also take part in friendship bracelet making, or pre-order the bakery’s “Gourmet Greatest Hits” dessert package for pickup during the event.
The celebration is open to all ages, with fans encouraged to stop in anytime throughout the day to share in the music and sweets.
2025 Frankenmuth Country Fest
Frankenmuth will once again host a boot-stomping celebration this fall as the 15th Big Country Fest takes over town Friday and Saturday, Oct. 3–4. The indoor festival runs from 5 p.m. to midnight both nights, offering live music, food, drinks and plenty of country-themed fun.
This year’s lineup features regional favorites Mandy Layne & the Lost Highway, Waylon Hanel, The Family Tradition Band and Shiatown. Guests can also enjoy food trucks, local vendors, a fully stocked bar, free line-dancing lessons, cornhole, door prizes, a photo booth and festival souvenirs, with more attractions still to be announced.
Admission is $12, with free entry for children 10 and under accompanied by an adult. Organizers recommend buying tickets in advance—last year’s event nearly sold out. Find more details and the full schedule at www.bigcountryfest.com.
International Observe the Moon Night with Longway Planetarium
Local skywatchers will have the chance to explore the moon up close during International Observe the Moon Night, a global celebration of lunar science, exploration, and culture.
On Saturday, Longway Planetarium staff and For-Mar Naturalists will guide visitors through crater science, moon maps, sketching activities, and nighttime trail explorations by headlamp or flashlight. Red light filters will be provided to help protect night vision.
A limited number of telescopes and binoculars will be available, though guests are encouraged to bring their own. The free event is recommended for ages 10 and up, with preregistration required by Friday. Registration is per car.
If skies are cloudy, the program will move indoors to the For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum Visitor’s Center.
