Taxi boss Thamsanqa Moya to be buried on Saturday

The funeral service of the late National Taxi Alliance Chairperson Thamsanqa Moya will be held on Saturday in Soweto.

A memorial service in his honour will take place on Thursday.

Moya was gunned down on the Soweto Highway near Diepkloof last Thursday.

Leaders of the National Taxi Alliance and several other associations visited his home in Soweto on Monday.

Gauteng police have since launched a manhunt for the suspects behind his assassination.

National Taxi Alliance Spokesperson Theo Malele says his death is a great loss.

“We will be doing a memorial service on Thursday starting from 11:00 and we will bury him at the Westpark Cemetery on the Heroes Acre side, and this will happen on Saturday. It’s very, very difficult even for most people who were in there, it’s a sombre moment. It is a great loss indeed if you look at the leadership positions that he held. This took us by surprise we must confess but we have braved it and just said to ourselves we will pick up the baton from where he left it.”
