Tamil actor-comedian Robo Shankar has passed away at the age of 46. On September 18, reports came in that he succumbed after getting hospitalised a day ago for fainting on set. He is survived by wife Priyanka Sankar and daughter Indraja Shankar. Robo Shankar’s death Shankar was admitted to ICU in Chennai due to a sudden health issue on Wednesday but his condition deteriorated. Sources claim he was diagnosed with a liver and kidney failure upon admission at the hospital. As per reports, he recovered from jaundice a few months back. Shankar made his debut in the film industry as a comedian through Dhanush’s Maari and after that, he was flooded with movie offers. He further rose to fame by playing humorous roles alongside Ajith is Viswasam, Vijay in Puli, Suriya in Si3 and Vikram in Cobra. Shankar’s other Tamil movies include Idharkuthaane Aasaipattai Balakumara, Vaayai Moodi Pesavum, Maari and Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran, Khiladi among others. He even dubbed for the characer of Pumbaa for Tamil version of The Lion King (2019). The actor was last seen in Sotta Sotta Nenayuthu. Film icon Kamal Haasan remembered Robo Shankar. He wrote a heartfelt message in Tamil on X (formerly Twitter) which translated to, “Robo Shankar. Robo is just a pseudonym. In my dictionary, you are a human. Therefore, my younger brother. So, will you just leave me and go? You left, your job is done. My job remains unfinished. You left tomorrow for us. Therefore, tomorrow is ours.”
