The Honiara Table Tennis Association (HTTA) has launched its first-ever Business House Table Tennis Competition (BHTTC) 2025, held on Thursday 30th October at the Multipurpose Hall in Honiara. The BHTTC 2025 is the first competition of its kind organized by HTTA outside of youth and disability championships. HTTA President Kevin Olea told Solomon Star Sport that the competition aims to strengthen collaboration and networking among business houses, while promoting table tennis as a social and health empowerment activity for working professionals. “We want to show that table tennis can improve quality of life by reducing the risk of non-communicable diseases, which are a leading health concern in the Solomon Islands,” he said.“Table tennis is a sport for everyone, and we encourage all age groups to participate.” The kickoff event featured an intense showdown with eight teams showcasing their passion and determination on day one. The three-day competition are takig place over three Thursdays: Day 1: Thursday, 30 October 2025 Day 2: Thursday, 6 November 2025 Final & Prize Presentation: Thursday, 13 November 2025 President Olea also thanked Solrais Company for supporting the event with a donation of 20 bags of rice valued at $3,000. One participant, Issac from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, praised the competition: “Simple exercises like table tennis are very helpful for our health,” he said.“I encourage such programs to continue, especially for participants aged 40 and above.” This year’s competition features the following teams: HTTA, Lifestyle MHMS, AHS, DBSI, SOLRAIS, UMI Students, Central Police, and SDB Team.
