India are all set to defend their crown in the T20 World Cup, when the next edition of the tournament takes place in February-March in 2026. This time India are set to host the competition for the first time since the 2016 edition of the tournament. They will co-host the competition with Sri Lanka. While the schedule has not been finalized yet, it looks like we may have the venues for the T20 World Cup 2026, with the stadium for the final also finalized. According to sources, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have sent a suggested schedule for the T20 World Cup 2026 to the ICC, and will formally announce it soon. The board has suggested the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as the venue for the final. This will be the second time that the venue will host the final of the major ICC event after hosting the summit clash of the 2023 ODI World Cup, where Australia broke a lot of Indian hearts by defeating the Men in Blue to lift their 6th trophy. These are the Arun Jaitley Stadium (Delhi), Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai), Eden Gardens (Kolkata), Narendra Modi Stadium (Ahmedabad) and the MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chennai). This means that the M Chinnaswamy Stadium (Bengaluru) will not host any match. According to a report by The Indian Express, each of these venues will host six matches each in the tournament. One city in Sri Lanka will host the matches of Pakistan in the tournament, as according to an agreement, they will not travel to India. The Indian Express report also states that if Sri Lanka reaches the semi-final then one of the matches will be held in the country, whereas if Pakistan reach the final, the match will be shifted out of Ahmedabad to Sri Lanka.
