Syrian and Saudi officials discussed on Sunday ways to strengthen agricultural cooperation in Syria using new technologies. The Syrian Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement on its official Telegram channel that the Director of Agricultural Scientific Research, Osama Al-Abdullah, held virtual talks with Bandar bin Mohammed Al-Saqhan, Director General of Agricultural Research and Extension at the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture. The talks focused on organic and protected agriculture, the development of olive, pistachio, and citrus production, bee health and animal husbandry, water resource management and agriculture using reclaimed water, and the application of artificial intelligence in agricultural research and extension. The officials agreed to exchange experiences, form joint working groups, and conduct reciprocal field visits. These steps aim to develop scientific and practical cooperation to benefit agriculture in both countries. These meetings are part of efforts to strengthen Syrian-Saudi relations, achieve food security and sustainable development, and build a strategic partnership serving the common interests of both countries.
