The fate of a vice principal at a school in Syracuse, N.Y., will soon be decided by a vote. The Syracuse City School District is set to vote on Dec. 10 on the termination of 54-year-old Jaime Perez-Garcia, who was charged earlier this year for allegedly drinking alcohol with a 15-year-old girl. According to a criminal complaint filed cited by CNY Central, Perez-Garcia engaged in “inappropriate conversations” when texting the teen and arranging to meet her. The two allegedly made plans to meet on Oct. 10 in his pickup truck outside a Corcoran High School football game. That’s where Perez-Garcia was found by Syracuse police, with a bottle of alcohol and two shot glasses. He was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful dealing with a child. Perez-Garcia, the vice principal at H.W. Smith Elementary School, had previously served as principal at Fowler High School, according to Syracuse.com. The teen girl is described as a former student. He was placed on paid leave after his arrest. Members of the Board of Education will now decide whether he should be terminated from his position. If they agree, his final day will be Jan. 10.
