NY lawmakers want to ban anonymous reports of child abuse. Will Hochul sign their bill? New York is poised to become only the third state in the nation to pass a law rejecting anonymous reports of child abuse in a move to cut false tips. Under the new law passed by the state Senate and Assembly, callers to the state hotline would be required to provide their name and contact information, which would remain confidential and could only be disclosed in rare cases if ordered by a judge. But now the bill has run into a potential roadblock on its way to Gov. Kathy Hochul’s desk to be signed into law.

ACC fines Syracuse football team for faking injuries: ‘They want us to move on’: The Syracuse football team was fined and reprimanded by the ACC for faking injuries in the fourth quarter of its 34-21 win over Clemson on Saturday. The league said that Syracuse “violated the spirit of the injury timeout and fair play” and that the fine was the maximum allowed by the conference’s bylaws. SU coach Fran Brown answered multiple questions about the ACC’s decision by saying he wanted to “move on” from the issue and focus on the Orange’s next game against Duke.
