Demonstrating a very LA predilection for glittering coastal views, the producer sold her two-bedroom, two-bathroom Coogee apartment for $3.5 million in an auction this month. The apartment boasted million-dollar views over Coogee Bay and was just a fashionable stroll to the Coogee Pavilion.
But that’s not the only deal in the Papandrea playbook this year: the award-winning film producer’s new digs are a hop and a skip away in North Bondi, a $12 million purchase she made in March of a light-filled Japandi-style four-bedroom, three-bathroom house with a wood-panelled outdoor deck – of course within walking distance from Bondi Beach.
Papandrea will enjoy her new home with husband Steve Hutensky, whom some might know as a fellow film producer and chief operating officer of her production company Made Up Stories. Fewer might know Hutensky as Harvey Weinstein’s lawyer involved in securing settlements with some of Weinstein’s victims and drafting non-disclosure agreements that barred them from disclosing Weinstein’s name. One wonders if that played a part in why Papandrea and then-business partner Reese Witherspoon parted ways in 2016. Bankrolling Papandrea and Hutensky’s second mortgage is the billionaire daughter of late Westfield co-founder Monica Saunders-Weinberg.
Papandrea’s new digs are another world compared to her humble upbringing in Adelaide’s rough-and-tumble northern suburbs, which she said gave rise to her sense of drive. “I do think it’s my superpower,” she told the Financial Times in 2022. “There is such enormous value in having that hunger.”
