Two people have been charged with assault after a man was found in a critical condition on a street in Manchester city centre . Police were called to Back Piccadilly, near Spear Street, at around 5.45pm on Thursday evening (November 6). A cordon was put in place after a man was found on the scene with life-threatening injuries. He remains in hospital in a critical condition, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said today (Saturday). Simon Starrs, 37, of no fixed abode, and Lucy Sheriff, 34, also of no fixed abode, have both been charged with one count of assault. The pair are due to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court this morning. Another woman who was arrested for assault has been bailed with conditions, a GMP spokesperson said. The spokesperson added: "Our dedicated Piccadilly Gardens policing neighbourhood team will be patrolling the area to provide reassurance and visibility to our communities.
