“I wanted to assist the RCMP officer and attempt to safely take the occupants of the vehicle into custody,” he said, adding that other officers took control of the first person who emerged from the CRV. “This point is probably the most chaotic point of this entire incident for us as first responders, in that we believe there’s still a firearm in play. There’s smoke, there’s broken glass, the airbags have deployed on the CRV. We weren’t sure how many occupants were inside.”
