Decarlos Brown Jr. has shared an apparent motive behind the murder of Iryna Zarutska.
On August 22, Zarutska was stabbed to death on a North Carolina train. Video footage has since identified Brown as a key suspect in her death and he has been charged with first-degree murder.
Brown is also facing federal charges and President Trump has called for him to face the death penalty.
The alleged murderer is said to have mental health issues and is a diagnosed schizophrenic.
Brown is currently in custody and has spoken to his sister Tracey Brown over the phone.
In audio recorded six days after his arrest of one of their conversations, Brown recalled the attack to Tracey.
“I hurt my hand, stabbing her. I don’t even know the lady,” he told his sibling, as per audio obtained by Daily Mail.
Brown went on: “I never said not one word to the lady at all. That’s scary, ain’t it. Why would somebody stab somebody for no reason?”
He further called for the police to investigate the ‘materials’ inside him that were ‘controlling’ him.
Seemingly speaking about the ‘materials’, Brown said as an apparent motive for Zarutska’s death: “They just lashed out on her, that’s what happened. Whoever was working the materials they lashed out on her. That’s all there is to it.”
“Now they really gotta investigate what my body was exposed to,” he continued. “Now they gotta do an investigation as to who was the motive behind what happened.”
