The long-running CBS reality show Survivor has developed into a family business, with children of longtime crew members now joining the production team after growing up on set locations worldwide.Abby Probst, niece of host and executive producer Jeff Probst, joined the show’s 2025 Dream Team crew. The Dream Team handles various production tasks including challenge testing and departmental assistance across the Survivor production.”She kicks ass,” Jeff Probst said during season 50 filming in Fiji. “She came in with a last name that put a little bit of a spotlight on her, but she got the job on her own. Jeff Probst recalled Kenny’s assignment to film an elaborate opening shot despite his assistant status.”I turn around, and I see Kenny with the gear on and I realize, ‘Oh my God, Kenny is shooting one of the biggest shots we do each season,'” Probst remembered.After successfully completing the complex filming sequence through the tribal council set, Kenny’s reaction demonstrated the significance of the moment. “Then Kenny goes, ‘F— yeah!'” Probst said. “We just had this moment of, you were a kid! You just shot that!”Survivor production creates multi-generational workplaceKenny Hoffmann described the unique relationship between crew members and show leadership. “Even more incredible yet is just — at the time I didn’t know he was excited, but seeing him afterwards and how excited he was for me and just the show in general, to see people come up from the place I came from, it’s really special,” he said.Matthias Hoffman noted the show’s distinctive work environment. “There’s more of a family atmosphere than any other show I’ve been part of, and it makes your work better and your life better, and I think it makes the show better ultimately because people love to come here,” he stated.Family members work together in Survivor departmentsKey grip Calum Anderson hired his daughter Morag as a grip assistant when a position opened in his department. The hiring came with specific expectations regarding performance standards.”He said, ‘You’re going to have to work really, really hard.
