A new survey has crowned Uddingston as the happiest place to live in Lanarkshire . Online store Furniturebox polled 5000 people with panels in each big city and county, including Lanarkshire. Locations were ranked on a number of factors, such as good state schools. Uddingston came out on top for Lanarkshire, followed by Bothwell , Strathaven , East Kilbride and Lanark . Uddingston was the highest rated location in the county in a list of the 75 happiest places. Locations were ranked according to the beauty of the surroundings and green spaces, provision of good state schools and affordable housing, as well as access to quality pubs, restaurants, independent shops and cultural attractions. Uddingston, home of the world famous Tunnock's, is known for being desirable, family-friendly, and having strong community spirit. Dalziel High School and Holy Cross High School are consistently ranked highly for secondary education, while primary options like Aitkenhead Primary and St Timothy's Primary have strong ratings on School Guide. Excellent pubs include Molly Malone’s and The Rolling Barrell A Furniturebox spokesperson said: "Uddingston is the happiest place to live in Lanarkshire. "All 75 places on the list would have been worthy winners and show why the UK is such a wonderful place to live, loved by visitors from all over the world. "Most of the locations in the top 75 are not the most affluent in their localities and have access to some affordable housing including Uddingston which is very popular with families. "The survey shows that the happiest places are not defined by wealth but by the quality of life within them."
