Ireland has recently made a significant commitment to nurturing its creative sector, with increased funding for artists aimed at fostering sustainable careers and supporting emerging talent. The government’s Basic Income for the Arts scheme has been made permanent, providing financial stability to artists and enabling them to focus on their craft. Alongside this, expanded investment in arts education and development programmes ensures that the next generation of creatives—especially young people—have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. One such initiative supporting young creatives is the National Talent Academies (NTAs ), an innovative programme by Screen Ireland offering a wide range of training and development opportunities across creative industries. While many of these programmes are geared towards adults, the NTAs also provide valuable workshops, mentoring, and networking events tailored to post-primary students (typically ages 12 to 18 ), helping them explore careers in animation, film and TV, crew roles, and visual effects (VFX ).
