Businessman Sunjay Kapur, Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband, died at 53 after collapsing during a polo match in London. His funeral in Delhi brought an unexpected moment of togetherness, as Karisma and his wife Priya Sachdev came together to pay their respects.
Karisma attended the last rites in Delhi with her children, Samaira and Kiaan. They also came together to offer prayers for Sunjay Kapur during his prayer meet held in Delhi. Visuals from the gathering showed Karisma standing beside her children, Samaira and Kiaan, while Sunjay’s wife, Priya Sachdev, was seated in a chair in front of them. With folded hands, they were seen paying their respects in an emotional tribute.
It was one of the rare times they were seen together. Photos from the prayer meet showed the families coming together in grief. Karisma and her children had also signed Sunjay’s funeral announcement alongside Priya and the rest of his family.

Karisma Kapoor and Sanjay Kapur marriage
Karisma Kapoor married Sanjay Kapur on September 29, 2003, in a grand but private ceremony in Mumbai. The match had been arranged, and Karisma and her father Randhir Kapoor had confirmed this in early interviews at the time. When asked about the wedding, Randhir Kapoor had told Rediff back in the day, “We will be able to give you the date in a couple of days. The wedding is an arranged one. Both Karisma and Sunjay have known each other but the alliance has been fixed with the help of common friends.” Karisma, on her part, had said, “My parents will decide [her marriage] for me.”
In the years that followed, Karisma and Sunjay’s marriage began to crumble. Married from 2003 to 2016, the couple shared two children – daughter Samaira, born in 2005, and son Kiaan, born in 2011. But their relationship soon turned bitter. Karisma accused Sunjay of mistreating her, even during their honeymoon, and of having multiple affairs. Sunjay, meanwhile, alleged that she had married him only for his wealth.
The divorce was long, messy, and very public. After years of separation, they officially parted ways in 2016 – a split that was widely described as one of Bollywood’s most controversial breakups.

Sunjay Kapur married Priya Sachdev after his divorce from Karisma. Priya had a daughter, Safira Chatwal, from her previous marriage with Vikram Chatwal. In 2018, Sunjay and Priya were blessed with a son, Azarius.
