In todays rapidly paced world we turn to Google for nearly every aspect of our daily lives. Whether it is searching for information booking travel accommodations or another service checking out a map for directions or downloading an app or resource Google has become an integral part of our functionality. What once took hours Google condenses into just a few clicks to instantly access knowledge services and tools. Finding the nearest restaurant learning new skills finding the weather or navigating a new city are all infinitely easier faster and simpler with Google by our side. In other words Google has evolved from a search engine to a digital assistant that enhances our lives. Google keeps us connected informed and in control of an increasingly digital world.
But have you ever wondered when Google was established? Who owns it?
Google was established on September 4 1998 by US-based computer scientists Larry Page and Sergey Brin. It has evolved to become the most used search engine in the world which attracts almost 86.93% of its total users from the US.
In 1998 Google only processed 10000 search queries a day while now it processes 8.5 billion search queries every day which is about 99000 every second. With answers to almost every inquiry just a few clicks away Google has established itself in everyday life.
In August 1998 Sun co-founder Andy Bechtolsheim wrote Larry and Sergey a check for $100000 and Google Inc. was officially born. With this investment the newly incorporated team made the upgrade from the dorms to their first office: a garage in suburban Menlo Park California owned by Susan Wojcicki reads the statement on the official website of Google.
Google is the largest and most popular subsidiary of the multinational technology conglomerate Alphabet Inc. the direct parent company of Google. It owns separate ventures such as Waymo for self-driving cars Verily for life sciences and DeepMind for artificial intelligence. Since Google itself has extensive internet-based services its founders took action with the corporate restructuring that aligned more with its vision.
At present Sundar Pichai is the CEO of Google and Alphabet and serves on Alphabet’s Board of Directors.
