SunCash made a splash at last week’s CB+DC Conference 2025, held at the Atlantis Paradise Island resort, because of its homegrown fintech solutions.
Shawn Smith, SunCash’s business development manager, told Guardian Business that the various central Banks that descended upon Atlantis last week for the CB+DC conference had never seen the infrastructure that supports the country’s digital currency, Sand Dollar, the way SunCash has it designed.
“We had central banks from around the world there at the conference, and they were impressed with our technology.”
Smith added that several meetings are planned with a number of central banks to support their plans for financial inclusion through digital growth using what SunCash has built.
The SunCash fintech is a one-of-a-kind, Bahamian homegrown, financial processing system that has a lot of off-ramps, Smith said. “These off-ramps are essentially if you go to a commercial bank’s automated teller machine, you have two features, a deposit and a withdrawal. But with our system, you have 25 different services, the same thing with our digital wallet and the same thing with our store.”
Smith continued: “We’ve created an ecosystem, very few in the world have this amount of services tied to one platform. If you were to do a Google search, or an AI [artificial intelligence] search, or ChatGPT search to find how many mobile wallets or financial digital companies have more than six or seven services attached to one ecosystem, you’ll find very few.
“The unique thing that we were able to pull off is to create a digital ecosystem that allows for financial inclusion regardless of where you are or what you’re doing. It allows you to get into one space, and you’re able to do so many things from one space, instead of moving to multiple platforms to achieve that goal.”
b, chief executive officer and founder of SunCash, said the demand from business for this new kiosk has been powerful. He said it speaks to the confidence and success SunCash has achieved on every island.
“We have launched an innovative kiosk solution that supports the growing need for business, and utility and government demands throughout the Family Islands.”
Pyfrom added that after 30 years in the technology space, providing a digital payment platform that grants financial inclusion is key to growing the economy countrywide.
Smith also announced that Ragged Island now has a kiosk in place. SunCash has provided a financial solution on every island in The Bahamas.
