SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) - The Knot Burger Pub is helping fight food insecurity in the Lowcountry with a new two-month initiative. “Every Double Makes a Difference” combines weekly food drives, themed donation weeks and local-business-powered raffles, the restaurant said. Through December 1, $1 from every “Double Burchy Burger” sold at The Knot Burger Pub will be donated to local food assistance programs. The restaurant will also host weekly themed food drives that highlight specific needs, like pasta, breakfast items, soups and taco kits. Weekly themes include: “Let’s Taco ‘Bout Kindness” which includes taco kits, rice, beans and salsa. “Send Noods” that include pasta, ramen and macaroni & cheese. “Cereal’ously Good People” which features breakfast items. “Souper Hero” includes soup, chili and canned proteins. “Knead Some Love” that includes bread, muffins and cornbread mixes. Community members who bring those items each week will have the chance to win raffle prizes donated by local businesses. “This town shows up for us every single day,” said owner Derek Burcham. The least we can do is show up right back. “When times get tough, small acts; a can of soup or a box of noodles, truly make an impact. We’re here to help make that impact bigger.” If you can’t make it to Summerville to donate, The Knot Burger Pub has set up an Amazon Wish List. There, you can ship items directly to the restaurant for distribution to families in need. You can click here if you would like to donate. The Knot Burger Pub is located at 208 East 5th North Street in Summerville.
