We often hear stories of UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) aspirants who achieve the significant feat of qualifying for this examination through sheer determination. Today, let us take a look at the success story of Geetika Tamta from Uttarakhand and how she cracked UPSC. Geetika, a resident of Nainital, Uttarakhand, made a resolution to study hard during the New Year celebrations of 2021 in Mukteshwar. She adhered to her resolution for some time.
However, like many others, she got distracted by social media. Realising she was drifting away from her goal, Geetika decided to delete all her social media accounts on January 15, 2021. Reports indicate that she increased her study time significantly. Subsequently, festivals and social events with friends and family became distractions for her. On February 18, 2021, she attended her last family function, and in April 2021, she got a whiteboard to establish a plan of action for her studies.
Later that year, she moved to Delhi to study in a better environment. Reportedly, Geetika was under a lot of stress due to family issues. But after relocating to Delhi, she began paying attention to her mental and physical health. In May 2021, she returned to Nainital as the UPSC prelims were postponed due to the second wave of Covid-19.
Geetika started preparing for her UPSC mains exam on October 13, after taking her prelims on October 10, 2021. After passing her prelims, she organised her schedule to concentrate better on her studies for the mains. In January 2022, her family moved to Dehradun, and she returned to Delhi.
After taking the mains exam in Delhi, she went back to Dehradun. She participated in numerous mock interviews to prepare for her UPSC interview in Delhi. The UPSC results were announced on May 30, 2022, where she secured the 239th rank. To celebrate her success, she went to Haridwar with her family. Geetika is now an IFS (Indian Foreign Service) officer and also participated in the recent G20 Summit.
