Strictly’s Tess Daly left in dismay as Vernon Kay shares struggle

BBC Radio 2 presenter Vernon Kay has revealed how his recent lifestyle change has come at a cost, admitting that it infuriated his wife Tess Daly , With the pair both set to make their TV returns this evening, it is an incident away from the cameras that has caused a recent issue between the couple . Speaking to listeners on his daily BBC Radio 2 slot earlier this week, Vernon revealed how has recently let his fitness routine get away from him and has been eager to get back on track . He said: “I started again yesterday, I’m very very proud of myself, because I’ve been speaking to Janine and I’ve been telling Phil ‘I’ve got to get going again, I’ve got to get going again’.” However, while he had grown complacent with his fitness routine, he is now fully invested in getting back to his old habits. He admitted that Tess is less than pleased as she fears that his new routine will see a number of changes happen around the home: “Tess is like ‘oh no, not again. Here we go, protein milkshakes every morning, smoothies, we’ll be on the multi-vitamins.’ ” Sharing another purchase that he’ll be adding to his new fitness plan, he added: “Ohh skipping ropes will be arriving through the post all that kind of stuff.” Vernon and Tess first met by chance nearly 25 years ago when they were tasked with recreating Britney Spears’ Hit Me Baby One More Time. Since then they have gone to tie the knot and have two daughters together, Phoebe and Amber. The husband and wife duo will both be on our screens this evening with Tess up first as she joins Claudia Winkleman as they join forces to co-host coverage of Strictly Come Dancing . Following the launch of the new series last week, this weekend will see the first couple lose their place in the competition. Meanwhile, later on Vernon will feature alongside Kelly Sutton as they bring viewer’s highlights from the Royal Albert Hall as Grand Ole Opry radio show marks its 100th birthday live in London. There will be a number of popular acts taking to the stage throughout the night, with artists including Luke Combs, Breabach and Mumford and Sons. Strictly Come Dancing is set to return to our screens this evening (Saturday, 4 October) on BBC One at 6.20pm. Meanwhile, you can watch Grand Ole Opry Live: 100 Years of Country Music tonight at 8.40pm on BBC Two.
