Former Strictly pro Flavia Cacace has opened up about her relationship with Strictly dance partner Jimi Mistry , revealing the secret behind their lasting romance in an industry notorious for fleeting pairings. The pro dancer, 45, and Jimi, 52, first met in 2010 when they were partnered together on Strictly Come Dancing . At the time, Jimi was best known for his acting career, and Flavia was already a fan favourite on the show. Their chemistry on the dancefloor quickly blossomed into a real-life romance, and by the end of the series the pair had gone public with their relationship. Unlike many so-called Strictly ‘curse’ stories, Flavia and Jimi’s partnership flourished off-screen, too. They tied the knot in December 2013 and have since built a solid, loving marriage based on teamwork and shared passions as they now live together on their farm. Speaking exclusively to Daily Star in collaboration with betway.com , Flavia said the key to their success has always been teamwork. “I think compromise – it’s understanding, it’s patience. The great thing about being with Jimi is that we were a team from the beginning when we first started. Because obviously, that’s what you are when you do the show,” she explained. Flavia, who won hearts on Strictly as a pro, admitted that the skills they honed on the dance floor translated seamlessly into real life. “I guess because we worked well as a team before, we carried that on in life. We find now that we’re really good at tackling projects – whatever comes our way, we tackle it as a project and as a team. When we get it, we get it done,” she said. The dancer added that patience and empathy were crucial. “So yes, working together as a team with lots of patience. Again, I think slightly adapting and trying to understand the other person’s point of view on things,” Flavia added, giving fans a glimpse into the effort behind their enduring relationship.
