Dragons' Den star Sara Davies says Strictly Come Dancing has been "the biggest opportunity" of her life so far. The businesswoman competed on the 2021 series, alongside professional dancer Aljaz Skorjanec. Despite flourishing during her time on the programme, Sara's dance journey came to an end in week eight, following a dance-off defeat to Tilly Ramsay - a result that reduced her to tears. Looking back on her experience four years later, she revealed to The Times: "I felt like it was the biggest opportunity of my life, and something purely for me." The 41-year-old's recent remarks follow her confession of being "desperate" to secure a spot on the programme. She previously revealed to The Telegraph: "I was desperate to do that show. Literally, I got myself an agent and I said, 'My life's goal is to get on Strictly'. "And it wasn't just because I was desperate to dance with a really sexy, hot man." Sara developed a strong friendship with Aljaz, who this year is partnered with RuPaul's Drag Race star La Voix. The professional dancer supported the businesswoman when she "really struggled" to come to terms with her elimination from the BBC programme. Sara confessed to "crying uncontrollably" following the judges' verdict, and likened joining Strictly to entering an "alternative universe". The TV personality's appearance on the show came two years after she joined Dragons' Den. Earlier this year, she revealed that she had "taken the decision to step away from the Den for now, to focus on my own business" - a crafting enterprise she established in 2005. Posting on Instagram , Sara explained: "As a lot of you will know, I've taken up my position again as CEO of Crafter's Companion and my business is my big priority this year. "And when I commit to a business, I really commit, which is why I find Dragons' Den such a rewarding role. "As well as filming an incredible show, being a Dragon requires so much dedication and time behind the scenes as you join the life of each business you invest in. "It means seeing through your investment and committing to your part in that organisation. It's so much more than a TV show. "That's why I've taken the decision to step away from the Den for now, to focus on my own business, which was my first baby!". She went on to say that due to this commitment she "won't be filming with the year this year for the next series". Sara won't be departing the television world permanently though, as next year she'll be appearing as a regular competitor on Gary Lineker's fresh ITV game show, The Box. "I am a competitive person, but this is definitely outside my comfort zone," she concluded. Strictly Come Dancing airs tonight at 6.25pm on BBC One.
