Tensions were at an all time high during the Strictly Come Dancing results show on Sunday night as two celebrities found themselves in the bottom two. BBC viewers saw Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Amber Davies in the dreaded dance-off after their Icons week routines, which saw one star highly emotional after their performance. In the end, it was a unanimous decision as judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas all saved Amber. Anton Du Beke also confirmed that he would’ve opted to save Amber had he needed to vote. Following his exit, the sports star has taken to social media to reflect on his time in the competition. Sharing a snap of himself and his professional partner Lauren Oakley, he wrote: "My time on the show has come to an end, and while I left earlier than I’d hoped, I walk away proud of what I achieved. In just a few weeks, I made my point- a footballer can dance, and it’s more than okay to put yourself out there. "Most importantly, I made my daughters proud. I showed them that stepping outside your comfort zone is worth it, and that hard work truly pays off. Lauren- thank you from the bottom of my heart. "Your talent, patience, and belief in me made this journey unforgettable. Dancing with you has been a privilege, and I’ll always be grateful for the way you lifted me up and helped me grow. To the hidden heroes behind the scenes- hair, makeup, wardrobe/ costume, the runners, the backstage and camera crew- you are the heartbeat of this show. To everyone who’s supported and voted for us. THANK YOU. To all the contestants I’ve met, it’s been a pleasure getting to know you. I’ll be cheering everyone on from the sidelines. Keep dancing and keep shining." It wasn’t long before people commented on Jimmy’s post, with many left disappointed to see him leave the competition. One person said: "Absolutely devastated and fuming you were even in the dance off position. You were amazing!" Another commented: "Gutted. Jimmy you were absolutely amazing each and every week. Keep dancing with your gorgeous girls." Someone else wrote: "Absolutely gutted you've gone, so not deserved, you were a joy to watch, thank you!" One fan added: "Gutted to see you go, you’ve been incredible throughout your incredible journey, you’ve not only made your daughters proud you’ve made the nation proud." During the results show, when Tess Daly asked how his time was on Strictly, he said: “I have absolutely loved my experience. "I can only say thank you very much for letting me have this experience and to my daughters for pushing me to come here and do this. I never expected that I would enjoy it this much. “The people behind the scenes, from the wardrobe people to the hairdressers to the make-up people, are absolutely magnificent – thank you very much. “This experience is going to live with me forever. Most importantly, [to Lauren], this girl is just absolutely incredible. She has been absolutely amazing with me. [To Lauren] You are a diamond.” Next weekend, the remaining contestants will take to the dancefloor for a spooktacular Halloween special. Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Saturday 1 November at 6.35pm.
