Strictly Come Dancing star Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said that there are ‘no words’ as he fought tears over a tribute from his wife on live TV. The Dutch football legend, who played for Chelsea and Leeds, was taking part on the BBC dancing competition with professional dancer Lauren Oakley. On Saturday night (October 25), the duo performed American Smooth to Purple Rain by Prince for the series’, receiving 30 points from the judges. Despite being on the higher end of the leaderboard, it was announced on Sunday's (October 26) results show that they were in the dance-off against Amber Davies and Nikita Kuzmin. After both couples had danced a second time, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas all chose to save Amber and Nikita. With Anton Du Beke, who this week was the judge with the casting vote, saying that he also would have chosen to save Amber and Nikita, Jimmy and Lauren went home the week before Strictly ’s annual Halloween special. Less than 24 hours after viewers learned of their fate, Jimmy and Lauren appeared on the Strictly spin-off series It Takes Two to reflect on their journey on the programme. Presenter Fleur East revealed she had a special message she wanted to play Jimmy from his wife Natalie and their three daughters. “We're so proud of you and your Strictly journey - you've blown us away every week," Natalie said. Jimmy’s eldest daughter Lauren added: "We're so proud of what you've accomplished and that you've started from scratch. We can't wait to keep dancing with you." While their other daughter Miah said: "Thank you daddy for stepping out of your comfort zone for us - you're absolutely amazing." as Jimmy and Nancy’s youngest daughter Khloe stated: "Well done daddy." Concluding the message, Natalie said: "And Lauren, thank you for bringing out this new and fun side of Jimmy." Lauren was the first of the pair to begin wiping tears away, noting it ‘set her off’, as Jimmy attempted to compose himself to answer what it meant to him. "That was emotional. They are really happy - they have been so supportive. Obviously, they were very sad after Saturday but very proud. “It's family time, it's bringing everybody together and to see them and to see that message, I've got no words,” he said. Meanwhil,e Jimmy revealed that he was ‘seriously unwell’ after battling the flu in the week leading up to his elimination. “After a really tough week- being seriously unwell on Sunday, a rocky start to training on Monday, then passing the flu onto Lauren and not being able to complete training on Thursday, followed by a frustrating Friday on the main dance floor with last-minute changes and nothing quite clicking- I’m honestly so proud of what Lauren and I managed to achieve. “Lauren, your ability to stay calm, adapt on the spot, and guide me through moments of doubt is truly remarkable. Dancing with you is the best. “Your teaching style, your patience, and the creativity you bring to every routine are out of this world. You work so hard to help me become a dancer my daughters and I can be proud of- and for that, I’m incredibly grateful,” he wrote on Instagram.
