BROWNS – VIKINGS Matchup Preview
The Browns (1-3) were outmatched by the high-powered Detroit Lions in Week 4, but have a much more favorable matchup across the pond in Week 5.
It will also mark Gabriel’s first start of his NFL career. He has tallied 19 passing yards and one touchdown in a couple of garbage time possessions in the previous weeks. Cleveland decided to make the switch after the offense remained stale under veteran Joe Flacco.
After hauling in over 1,200 yards last year, receiver Jerry Jeudy’s encore has been a disappointment this season. Jeudy has tallied 13 receptions for 182 yards, averaging 14 yards per reception. Drops and miscues have marred his campaign in the opening weeks.
Cleveland has the second-lowest points per game through four games, averaging 14 points per game. Only the Tennessee Titans, who average 12.8 points, claim a worse clip.
While their offense flounders, the Browns appear to have found the future at running back with rookie Quinshon Judkins. He has 49 carries for 237 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 4.8 yards per carry. Judkins has over 60 rushing yards in three games this season.
After a pair of dominating performances, the Browns’ defense caught the attention of the NFL, but it took a step back in Detroit after snapping in half against the Lions in the second half.
Defensive end Myles Garrett, the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year, has four sacks with 11 solo tackles. Rookie LB Carson Schwesinger has a team-high 32 tackles with one sack. Pro Bowler Denzel Ward has eight solo tackles with one interception.

The Vikings (2-2) will once again play abroad, marking the second time in as many weeks. Minnesota was defeated by the Steelers in Dublin last week.
Quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who is essentially a rookie after missing all of 2024, will not play due to a nagging ankle injury. He has 301 passing yards and two touchdowns with three interceptions.
Journeyman quarterback Carson Wentz will take the reins once again in place of McCarthy. In two games, he has 523 passing yards and four touchdowns with two interceptions.
The offensive line is battered into backups and mixed in pieces. They will be heavily pressured by Cleveland’s dynamic defense.
With the quarterback situation in a blender, star receiver Justin Jefferson has struggled to put together consistent numbers in the small sample. Despite the frustration, Jefferson has 22 receptions for 326 yards and one touchdown.
Jordan Addison has four receptions for 114 yards, averaging 28.5 yards per reception, which is third in the NFL.
Aaron Jones remains on IR, which keeps the door open for running back Jordan Mason, who has 56 carries for 271 yards and two touchdowns. He will have his work cut out for him against a stiff run defense.
Linebacker Ivan Pace Jr. leads team with 33 total tackles, including 20 solo tackles.
