The latest trailer for the fifth season of Stranger Things has given fans a sneak peek into Linda Hamilton's role in the Netflix hit's grand finale. The final season will wrap up the adventures of Eleven (portrayed by Millie Bobby Brown) and her pals, as their hometown of Hawkins faces another threat from the formidable Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). Set to be released in three parts over the coming two months, the fifth season is tipped to be one of Netflix's most anticipated new releases. The show is renowned for featuring legendary stars from iconic sci-fi and fantasy franchises, such as Sean Astin from The Lord of the Rings and Robert Englund from A Nightmare on Elm Street. Keeping with tradition, the finale will see Terminator legend Hamilton join the cast. Hamilton is best known for her role as Sarah Connor in the first two Terminator films opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger, a role she reprised in the 2019 sequel, Terminator: Dark Fate, reports the Mirror . In the upcoming season of Stranger Things, Hamilton will be seen playing a mysterious character named Dr Kay, who is set to pose another challenge for Eleven, Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Steve (Joe Keery) and the rest of the gang, alongside their fight against Vecna. Despite being introduced as an obstacle for the main characters, it seems she might eventually become an ally, according to the new footage. The trailer teases an exciting battle where Dr Kay appears to be shooting at hordes of Demogorgons from the Upside Down. Speculation suggests she'll play a pivotal part in the military lockdown imposed on Hawkins as the sinister alternate dimension starts bleeding into reality. Given that Eleven and her companions have previously clashed with government authorities in earlier seasons, Dr Kay will likely attempt to keep them well away from the military's containment operations, initially at least. However, as the trailer reveals, Vecna has unfinished business with the core group, especially Will Byers (Noah Schnapp), who becomes trapped by the formidable villain formerly known as Henry Creel. Once Dr Kay grasps the true magnitude of the threat, she may find herself compelled to support the Hawkins group's strategy and join forces with them. Hinting at Hamilton's contribution to the series, co-creator Matt Duffer recently told Empire: "She's hyper-intelligent and intimidating. "She's a scientist but if she needs to, she can get into a fight and shoot a gun." What are your biggest theories for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things? Stranger Things season 5 part 1 will be released Wednesday, 26th November on Netflix followed by part 2 on 25th December and the final episode on December 31st.
