Storm Amy is to hit Scotland this weekend, with winds of up to 100mph posing a danger to life.
The first named storm of the season will bring disruption across the country on Friday, with three Met Office warnings coming into force.
Storm Amy will bring heavy rain and gusts of up to 100mph within the worst-affected areas in the north-west of the country.
An amber weather warning for “damaging” strong winds comes into force at 5pm on Friday, lasting until 9am on Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, two yellow warnings for heavy rain and wind are also in place across the country.
Amber alert for wind
The amber alert comes into force at 5pm on Friday and remains in effect until 9am on Saturday.
The Met Office has warned of potential power cuts, damage to buildings and homes – including roofs being blown off and power lines being brought down, closures of roads, bridges and railway lines, with delays and cancellations to bus, train, ferry services and flights, dangerous flying debris and larges waves along coastal areas.

Yellow warning for rain
A yellow warning for heavy rain is to hit much of the west of the country from noon on Friday until 3pm on Saturday.
The Met Office has said there is a chance of power cuts, loss of other services, flooding, delays or cancellations to train and bus services, landslides, difficult driving conditions and road closures.

Yellow warning for wind
A Met Office-issued yellow warning for wind affects the entirety of Scotland.
It comes into force at 3pm on Friday and remains in force until midnight on Saturday.
Forecasters have warned of possible damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs, power cuts, flying debris, road and bridge closures and disruption to all kinds of travel.
Flood alerts
SEPA has issued nine flood alerts for Argyll and Bute, Ayrshire and Arran, Central, Dumfries and Galloway, Skye and Lochaber, Tayside, West Central Scotland, Wester Ross and Western Isles.
The public has been warned to expect delays to public transport, spray and flooding on roads, as well as potential power cuts and flooding in homes and businesses.
Some communities may be cut off by flooded roads, and there is a chance that fast-flowing or deep floodwater could result in a danger to life, the Met Office added.
