The UK’s largest free-to-attend soapbox derby will return to Stockport, it has been confirmed. Totally Stockport Krazy Races will take place in 2026, with organisers promising the family-friendly event will be ‘bigger’ and bolder’. Totally Stockport, the Business Improvement District (BID) company dedicated to supporting and promoting Stockport town centre, with support from Stockport Council announced the news today (September) and confirmed when the event will take place next year. On Sunday, 9 August 2026, families will be able to watch as thrill-seeking teams hurtle down a 350m course through the heart of Stockport, complete with chicanes, obstacles and more surprises for 2026. Danny Scoffin, Head of Business at Krazy Races, said: “We are so excited to be bringing Totally Stockport Krazy Races back in 2026 after a two-year break. Stay connected with our City Life newsletter here “The last event was incredible, with thousands turning out and nearly £20,000 raised for local charities. Since then, we’ve toured the country, adding new features to make the experience even better – and we can’t wait to bring these to Stockport. “With the support of Totally Stockport BID, we’re going bigger than ever before!” Returning after a two-year break, the last Totally Stockport Krazy Races drew over 15,000 spectators and 30 wildly creative soapbox teams. Since the last Stockport event, Krazy Races has been touring the country, attracting over 250,000 people and raising more than £200,000 for local charities since 2018. Stockport alone has benefitted by nearly £20,000 raised for local causes – and with the BID’s support, bosses say 2026 promises to deliver even more impact for businesses, charities, and the local community. Organisers are now calling on local businesses, schools, colleges, community groups, and groups of friends or families from across Stockport to take part in the adrenaline-fuelled event. Between 20–40 teams will be selected to build their own creative soapbox karts and battle it out for trophies including Fastest Kart, Best Design, Best Performance, and the Public Vote. In addition to entering a team, there are also sponsorship opportunities available for local businesses looking to showcase their work and raise their profile in front of thousands of spectators. Beyond the races, visitors can look forward to a vibrant event village packed with food stalls, family entertainment, and activities. Shaun Freeman-Jones, Totally Stockport BID Manager, added: “We’re thrilled to be funding the return of Totally Stockport Krazy Races and working with the Krazy Races team and Stockport Council to make it a reality. “It’s fantastic to see local businesses come together to create such imaginative soapboxes, and the event never fails to draw a huge crowd. We can’t wait to welcome it back to town!” Applications to enter a team and sponsorship enquiries are now open via the Krazy Races website. Join our Manc Life WhatsApp group HERE
