This A.M., equity futures are in decline. Overnight, the S&P 500, Nasdaq Composite, and Russell 2000 were all in the green. Now, it’s just the Russell, and narrowly at that; it’s up just a few basis points. It could be some of the reactions to weaker earnings reports, like Tesla, which left a little to be desired in its after hours report on Wednesday. However, not even some positive earnings reports seem to be turning the tide. As some analysts point out, it really seems like this market wants a little bit of selling. We are getting to that time of the year anyways, where investors prune both their gains and losses for annual tax loss harvesting. But with new Russian sanctions pushing up oil prices, the government shutdown entering day #23, and surprising shifts in the metals and crypto market, there’s lots for investors to digest. (We covered some of these big moves in our SMT from yesterday, too.) Here is what’s up today: Earnings Today: T-Mobile, Blackstone, Union Pacific There are 160 reports today, per TipRanks. The biggest among them are out this morning already, including T-Mobile US, Blackstone Group, and Union Pacific. At first glance, all three are fairly positive showings. There’s also plenty more where that came from. This evening, Newmont Mining, Norfolk Southern, and Ford Motor will also join the chorus. Here’s the full list of reports, including what’s already out this morning: Premarket Movers: Medpace, Molina, American Airlines Group Aside from this morning’s prominent reports, a handful of companies are seeing pretty dramatic reactions this morning, as is evident in the premarket movers. Atop the list is Medpace Holdings (+18.2%), which reported strong earnings this morning. In other upside surprises after earnings, there’s also QuantumScape (+8.8%), West Pharmaceutical Services (+6.86%), Dow (+6.7%), Las Vegas Sands (+6.05%), and others. Here’s the top ten stocks in the green this morning, per MarketWatch: On the other end of the market, Molina Healthcare (-18%) is getting hammered after slashing its guidance for the third time this year. The impact is also being felt by Centene Corp. (-7.4%) this morning. And rearing their head from from yesterday after the close, the reactions to earnings from International Business Machines (-7.05%) and Tesla (-3.92%) are apparent. Here’s what’s sinking in premarket trading: Economic Data & Events Due out later this morning are Existing Home Sales for September. They’ve held steady around four millions since March, a showing that analysts anticipate it will repeat when it releases at 10:00 a.m. ET.
