Stirling's streets are set for an autumn spruce up as targeted deep cleans take place across the region. The cleans are part of efforts to enhance the living environment for residents - with interventions including removal of weeds, litter, dog fouling, dumped items, graffiti and vegetation, going beyond routine sweeping and litter picking programmes. This month, the council's land services team have already undertaken work in Braehead and Stirling city centre, where they've collected and cleared more than 19 tonnes of rubbish, vegetation and debris. This week (27 October), the focus will shift to Doune, Killearn and Dunblane. A one-off budget of £200,000 has been confirmed for the extended employment of summer seasonal employees to carry out this programme of work, which was agreed upon after discussions with local community councils and will continue until January. In the coming weeks, other communities set to benefit include Cornton, Cowie, Raploch, Fallin, Plean, Borestone/Cultenhove, Hillpark and Broomridge. Rural footways in communities such as Brig o' Turk, Doune and Dunblane will also be addressed.
